COLONIE — Brian Angelo, better known as DJ Iroc, was re-arrested on Friday, Aug. 23 based on an Albany County grand jury indictment charging him with the felony of predatory sexual abuse against a child.
Colonie police initially arrested Angelo in March, but the indictment was thrown out because a grand juror had a conflict of interest. The juror knows a victim in the case and may have still voted to indict, according to Lt. Robert Winn.
There are no new allegations and no new charges, he said, but the case from March has been re-processed and the 51-year-old Angelo again faces charges that he allegedly sexually abused a 12-year-old girl from 2006 to 2009.
He is also facing 14 counts of the same charge in Rensselaer County. That indictment, unsealed in January, alleges he sexually abused two children in Troy from July 1 to Aug. 31, 2005 and from Jan. 1, 2007 to Dec. 31, 2008. At the time of the abuse the children ranged in age from 8 to 14, according to reports.
Angelo was a hip hop DJ on the radio station JAMZ 96.3 FM and has toured international with stars like Alicia Keyes.
In addition to the State Police in Brunswick, the case was investigated by troopers in Latham as well as the Colonie Police Department, the Rensselaer County District Attorney’s Office, the Albany County District Attorney’s Office and the START Children’s Center in Rensselaer County.
