COLONIE — A 33-year-old town man was arrested for drug possession after State Police found him sleeping in his car in the Target parking lot.
According to the State Police, a passing motorist flagged down a trooper on Saturday, May 20, and told them about a man sleeping in his car at the Troy Schenectady Road shopping center.
The trooper knocked on the window until 33-year-old Joseph Scocca woke up and opened the door.
The trooper immediately smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle, according to the State Police, and Scocca appeared disoriented.
He told the trooper he had stopped at Target to get ice cream, and when he got back to the car, he fell asleep.
A search of the vehicle uncovered marijuana and clonazepam, an anti-anxiety medication that can, upon ingestion, lead to feelings of euphoria.
Scocca was processed at the State Police barracks on criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana. He is due back in the Town of Colonie court on May 8.
