ALBANY — Grassroot Givers’ annual volunteer-community service event, called “A Day of Simple Giving,” will be held at St. Sophia’s Church, 440 Whitehall Road, in Albany on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Approximately 350 volunteers from local businesses and community organizations as well as students, families, and interested individuals will create and assemble $26,000 worth of everyday practical items, including household goods, handmade winter scarves, socks, toiletries and other personal care items, books, layered bean soup mix, decorated cookies, and more to be donated to those in need. Beneficiaries include Equinox, Books for Troops, Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless, Albany Boys and Girls Club, veterans organizations, South End Children’s Café, and many more. This is Grasssroot Givers’ major yearly fundraiser, and sponsors are needed to fund the organization’s many outreach programs.
