A Ballston Lake man was arrested in Saratoga Springs and charged with assault in the second degree after an early morning fight on Sunday, Aug. 21, according to information from police.
Saratoga Springs police responded to a fight on Maple Avenue between the Metro and Nine Maple Ave. around 2:10 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 21, and observed a white male on the ground and another white male on top of him, later identified as Nicholas W. McDonald, 32, of Ballston Lake, according to police reports.
McDonald was wrestled to the ground and taken into custody and charged with assault in the second degree, a class D felony, according to police reports.
The victim, an unidentified 31-year-old, appeared to be seriously injured and EMS was dispatched to the scene immediately to transport him to Saratoga Hospital, and then due to the severity of his injuries, he was put on a Med Flight to Albany Medical Center to undergo emergency surgery for head trauma, according to police reports.
McDonald was sent to Saratoga County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond, according to police reports.
