Hannah Martin won her second United States Judo Open gold medal last weekend in Miami.
The Jason Morris Judo Center athlete went 4-0 in the women’s 63-kilogram division for her first title since claiming the 57kg championship in 2008. Martin moved up to the 63kg weight class in April.
Brad Bolen also earned a medal at the US Judo Open. Bolen reached the men’s 66kg division final before losing to his main American rival, Kenny Hashimoto, and he finished with a silver medal.
Kyle Vashkulat placed fifth in the men’s 100kg division. Vashkulat lost to Jose Biossard of the Dominican Republic in the bronze medal match.
Martin, Bolen and Vashkulat will compete at this weekend’s Venezuela World Cup with JMJC teammates Natalie Lafon, Tony Sangimino and Angela Woosley. `
