Voters in the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District will again be heading to the polls tomorrow to vote on a school budget.
A $42.5 million spending plan was narrowly defeated in May. The district is putting up a budget that is largely the same, but it includes another $100,000 being spent out reserves to reduce the tax levy hike to 2.5 percent. The figure reflects $100,000 the district will not have to spend on health care, as well, after numbers came back lower than expected.
About 2,000 people voted on the first budget, which carried a 3.4 percent tax levy increase. If this budget is adopted, it would leave the district with about $800,000 in its undesignated fund balance.
Voters also turned down a proposal to buy new school buses. That will not be put to a second vote.
The vote will take place in the high school cafeteria and polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
If the budget is defeated, a contingency budget will be put in place for the 2011-12 school year. The district is operating off of a contingency budget this year.`
