At its meeting on June 6, the Guilderland Board
of Education unanimously approved the appointment of Thomas Lutsic to
the position of Guilderland High School Principal. Lutsic will be
succeeding current principal Brian McCann upon his retirement in June.
Lutsic comes to Guilderland after serving as secondary principal in the
Hamilton Central School District in Hamilton, New York, for the past
three years. Prior to that, he served as an assistant principal at
Eastridge High School in Rochester, New York, and as an English teacher
at Geneva High School in Geneva, New York.
He is a member of numerous professional organizations including the
Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the National
Association of Secondary School Principals, the National Council for
Teachers of English, and Rotary International.
We are delighted to welcome Tom to the district, said
Superintendent of Schools Marie Wiles. `His knowledge and leadership
experience will be great assets to the students, parents, and staff of
Guilderland High School and to the greater school community. We look
forward to many years of his continued service.`
Lutsic is a graduate of SUNY Buffalo, where he received his
bachelor’s degree in secondary English education, and of SUNY
Brockport, where he completed both his master’s degree in educational
administration and his administrative certification.
Lutsic will officially begin his new administrative duties in July 2011
and will receive an annual salary of $107,500.
