Colonie Councilman has released a statement explaining the reason for him not running in this election is because he would like to focus on his family.
Running for any office requires a huge sacrifice of time and a commitment to your fellow candidates, he said. `I need to devote this time in my life to concentrate on my children and their needs.`
Becker currently has a granddaughter with another one on the way, and has two daughters that are 4-years-old and 9-years-old. It would be unfair to his children if he were to focus on the election than giving them his full effort he said.
`This decision did not come easily as I have thoroughly enjoyed my opportunity to serve on the Colonie Town Board, and I am proud of what I have accomplished there,` he said. `I will sincerely miss being a member of the board and I hope to continue serving my community in any way I can now and in the future.`
Managing the Town of Colonie has been a challenge, Becket said, and said if it hadn’t been for the administration’s efforts then the town would be `ill prepared for what we are facing.`
He went on to say he supports all of the candidates running on the democratic ticket for this election and said they are all `uniquely gifted and will serve our town with honor and wisdom.`
Becker also praised Colonie Democratic Committee Chairman Richard Jacobson for his support over the years.
`I would like to thank Chairman Jacobson and the members of the Colonie Democratic Committee for all their trust and support, I am proud of all their hard work and dedication,` he said.
