The top four seeds all advanced in the Section II Class A girls lacrosse playoffs Tuesday.
No. 1 Guilderland knocked off Schenectady 24-5 to reach Thursday’s semifinal game against No. 4 Shenendehowa, which needed overtime to edge Colonie 10-9.
Brittany Olsen’s goal with six seconds left in extra time gave the Plainswomen the lead for good. Olsen finished with five goals, while Kelly Wall contributed three goals and Kylee Teague added two goals and two assists.
Demmi O’Brey had a hat trick, and Lexi Brannigan chipped in with two goals and four assists for the fifth-seeded Garnet Raiders.
There was no drama in Guilderland’s victory over Schenectady. The Lady Dutch built an 14-2 halftime lead, and they never looked back.
Erin Mossop led Guilderland with three goals and six assists. Morgan Hardt tallied four times, while Brianna Phillips, Kelly Camardo and Mackenzie Cietek each contributed hat tricks. Kelsey Michele added four assists.
Guilderland meets Shen in one of Thursday’s two Class A semifinal games. The other semifinal pits No. 2 Shaker against No. 3 Niskayuna.
Shaker advanced to the semifinals with a convincing 17-9 victory over No. 7 Bethlehem Tuesday. Adrianne Devine led the Lady Bison with five goals and three assists, while Charlotte Rehfuss recorded four goals and five assists. Lauren Smith added three goals and three assists for Shaker.
Tori McGrath and Moriah Greenstein each had hat tricks for Bethlehem, which had won six of its last eight regular season games to move up to the No. 7 seed.
Niskayuna jumped out to an 11-3 halftime lead on its way to a 15-7 quarterfinal victory over No. 6 Saratoga Springs Tuesday.
Kayla Treanor tallied five times, and Emily Ryan added three goals and two assists for the Silver Warriors, who are back in the Class A playoffs after spending the last several years at the Class B level.
