The Shaker boys lacrosse team can claim a share of the Suburban Council South Division title with a victory over crosstown rival Colonie Thursday.
The Blue Bison (6-6 league, 8-6 overall) moved within one game of the first-place Garnet Raiders (7-5, 9-6) by beating Guilderland 12-8 Tuesday.
Shaker scored five goals in the fourth quarter to break open a close game and surge past Guilderland (6-7, 6-9) into sole possession of second place in the South Division.
Stephen Farrell, Jimmy O’Brien and Jake Smith each had hat tricks to lead the Blue Bison. Farrell also contributed three assists.
Connor McLachlan had two goals and two assists for Guilderland.
In other boys lacrosse action Tuesday, Christian Brothers Academy (7-0, 10-5) maintained its hold on first place in the Big 10 with a 17-4 victory over LaSalle.
Carter Sherman tallied four times and added two assists for the Brothers, who remained one-half game ahead of Schenectady in the Big 10 standings. Andy Curro had a hat trick, while John Bassett and Zach Baron each chipped in with two goals.
CBA meets Schenectady Thursday with first place on the line.`
