State Police say they’ve arrested two men behind a string of convenience store robberies occurring over the past five months all over the area.
Police say Jeffrey G. Williams, 50, of Third Street in Albany, and Terrence D. Anderson, 35, of Lindeburgh Avenue in Albany, in the early hours of Sunday, May 15, burglarized a Mobil Mart on Main Street in Voorheesville.
As with burglaries that have occurred between the hours of 2 and 4 a.m. over the past five months, police alleged the duo threw a brick through a glass window and stole cigarettes, making a quick getaway. Burglaries have occurred in Schoharie, Schenectady, Albany, Greene, Columbia and Saratoga counties, police said.
Police think Williams has done 25 such robberies, but they aren’t sure how many Anderson has been involved in.
On Sunday, troopers caught up with Williams and Anderson on Route 85 in Slingerlands and allegedly found 31 cartons and 68 individual packs of cigarettes valued at $3,200.
Both were charged with burglary in the third degree, a felony, and arraigned in the Village of Voorheesville Court. Both were remanded to Albany County jail without bail and were scheduled to return to court on May 17.
Police said additional charges are likely against these two, and that there may be another suspect involved.
