A total of 10 people visiting inmates at the Albany County jail recenlty ended up on the wrong side of the law themselves as a result.
The Albany County Sheriff’s Office announced said that on Thursday, March 24, the department conducted checks on 297 visitors to the facility as part of an effort to prevent the introduction of contraband.
Of those checked, two were arrested on outstanding warrants; one was arrested on weapons charges; one was arrested on drug charges; and six were arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation or other traffic law infractions.
Among those arrested were Jennifer Kelley, 30, of Schenectady, for criminal possession of a weapon for allegedly being found in possession of an electronic stun gun. She was issued an appearance ticket.
Faqir Rasul, 20, of Albany, was arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance and obstructing government administration. He was also issued an appearance ticket, and is also out on $75,000 bail from a prior drug arrest.`
