Three area relay teams won titles at Saturday’s New York State High School Indoor Track and Field Championships at Cornell University.
The Colonie girls 1,600-meter relay team grabbed the public school and Federation titles with a time of 3:58.28. The team consisted of Andrea Guidarelli, Uwa Omorogbe, Kyle Plante and Christina Lenge.
Shenendehowa’s 3,200-meter relay team of Sam Crisafulli, Alex Burtnick, Gina Stalica and Lizzie Predmore also won the public school and Federation titles with a time of 9:12.41.
On the boys’ side, Shaker took first place overall in the 3,200-meter relay with a time of 7:55.70. Christian Delago, Mike Libruk, David Marthy and Reuben Feinman comprised Shaker’s winning relay team.
Shen’s Sam Kosa finished first among public school throwers and second in the Federation in the girls shot put. Kosa’s best throw was 41 feet, 8.5 inches.
Four other area girls had top-six finishes in their individual events. Saratoga’s Amanda Borroughs placed third in the public school standings and fourth overall in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:53.17, while Niskayuna’s Kaleigh Higgins finished fourth in the public school division and sixth overall in the 600-meter race with a time of 1:36.99.
Predmore was fifth among public school runners and sixth in the Federation in the 3,000-meter race with a time of 10:08.65, and Guilderland’s Catalena Diamonte placed sixth in the public school and Federation standings for the triple jump with a distance of 37 feet, 6 inches.
Delago turned in a solid performanc in the boys’ 1,000-meter race. The Shaker runner finished fourth in the public school and Federation standings with a time of 2:31.56.
Feinman and Colonie’s Giancarlo Sainato both finished in the top 10 in the boys’ 600-meter race. Sainato took fourth among public school runners (seventh in Federation) with a time of 1:22.28, and Feinman finished sixth in the public school division (ninth in Federation) with a time of 1:23.50.
Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake’s Otis Ubriaco was fifth among public school runners (sixth in Federation) in the 3,200-meter race with a time of 9:19.20. Saratoga’s Sam Place placed eighth in the public school standings (ninth in Federation with a time of 9:32.00.`
