Incumbent Assemblyman James Tedisco (R-Schenectady, Saratoga) emerged victorious over BK Keramati in the 110th Assembly race. Unofficial results showed Tedisco leading Keramati in votes, 30,468 to 16,830, with 98 percent reporting.
I’m honored to receive such strong support from the residents of Schenectady and Saratoga Counties to continue to serve as their Assemblyman. I’m proud of the upbeat and positive campaign I’ve run talking about the pocketbook issues that matter most to families, said Tedisco. `I want to thank my opponent, BK Keramati, for his interest in public service and hope he stays involved in contributing to our community. Now, we need to move forward and pass a property tax cap, help businesses create jobs, and reform state government so it spends less and puts more money back into the hands of taxpayers.`
`I offer my sincere thanks to all [who] helped our campaign with your work, your money, your encouragement and your ideas. I offered my congratulations to Mr. Tedisco. He was complimentary about our campaign and my motivation to be of public service,` said Keramati in a statement to his supporters. `I care deeply about the challenges that face us in New York State and in our dear country. After a little breather, I will be exploring ways that I can be of service and make a positive difference.`
`It’s not only a turning point for the fortunes of the people of New York State, it’s a turning point for the fortunes of the ppl and itieznes and voters and taxpayers of united states of America.
Tedisco has said that he will vote against any budget that hikes taxes and that the state needs a spending cap, a pay penalty to dock legislators’ pay each day the budget is late, and a law to give voters the power to recall their elected officials. Tedisco also said he is the first legislator in this decade to author a property tax cap legislation to halt high taxes and that by capping out of control property taxes, it will encourage New Yorkers to remain in state and create a more business friendly environment to spur private sector job growth.
`We’re not only a party that’s going to hold the line on taxes, hold the line on spending, fight the dysfunction in the state, turn Obamacare around; I believe we are the most compassionate party,` said Tedisco, to a crowd of cheering supporters at the Holiday Inn in Saratoga Springs. `[Addressing all Democratic challengers] We want you to stay a part of the system. We may not believe in your philosophy, we have a different philosophy, but we’re the Republican party and we appreciate everybody who wants to get in the arena and be a part of service we want everybody to join together in a non partisan way.`
