Seventh-seeded Shenendehowa stunned Suburban Council South Division champion Bethlehem by winning on penalty kicks in Monday’s Section II Class AA quarterfinal game in Delmar.
Tied 1-1 at the end of regulation and overtime, Shen (6-5-7) outscored Bethlehem 3-1 in the penalty kick round to reach Thursday’s semifinal against Ballston Spa.
Zach Rockmore gave the Eagles (14-2-1) a 1-0 lead in the first half when he scored off a pass from Dan Carillo-Rodriguez. Alex Duerr tied the game for the Plainsmen, and neither side scored again.`
