State Police in Saratoga responded to a one car fatal on Route 9P in the Town of Malta Wednesday, Sept. 1, at 8:10 p.m. A 1999 BMW was traveling eastbound on Route 9P when a tree fell from the wooded area alongside the south shoulder of the road and struck the vehicle. The vehicle ran off the right side of the road, stiking a guiderail, then crossed the roadway, running off the left side and striking another guiderail, according to police reports.
The operator of the vehicle, C. A. Dalessandro, 57, of Saratoga Springs, was med-flighted to Albany Medical Center and was listed in serious condition. The passenger, Carol Salvatore, 73, also of Saratoga Springs, was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Saratoga Hospital where an autopsy will be performed. The State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is also assisting and the investigation is ongoing.
