White Management Vice president Brian White unveiled the newly renovated Central Steak on Central Avenue Monday, Aug. 16. Formerly The Butcher Block Restaurant, White said the company put $900,000 into completely redoing the place.
We wanted to make it appealing to a much more wide variety of customers, he said. `We wanted to do it right.`
Left over from the original store were pieces of memorabilia hanging on the walls. Now those walls are bare after the restaurant held the event `Chip off the Old Block` where they auctioned off those items on the wall to raise money for the Mohawk Hudson River Humane Society. They were able to donate nearly $3,500 to the Humane Society from the funds raised.
The restaurant also held another event entitled `A Tasting @ Central Steak,` where cocktails and food were served to 200 guests. All of the money raised from the event ` a total of $6,400 -` went toward the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region.
`Our [main objective] is to give back to the community,` said General Manager David Hansen. `We’re committed to being a community partner.`
