Matt Nelligan has replaced Ted Danz as GOP chairman in Guilderland as Danz is going to focus his energy on the congressional race against Paul Tonko.
I have greatly enjoyed my time as chairman but, I feel that I need to focus completely on my race for Congress. This is important because I know that I will need to give it my all in order to unseat a career politician like Paul Tonko, but also because the Guilderland Republican Committee needs a leader who can focus full time on its needs. Matt Nelligan has been a great Vice Chairman and will be a fantastic Chairman-He has my full support, Danz said.
Nelligan has served as vice chairman on the committee since 2009 and is a former Guilderland High School social studies teacher who currently works for the New York State Senate as the director of the energy and telecommunications committee.
`The Guilderland Republican Party has a long and successful history and as chairman I plan to do all I can to ensure that our best days are still ahead of us. I will focus on rebuilding our infrastructure, improving our fundraising and finding high quality candidates for Town elections. I am no stranger to hard work and difficult tasks and I am looking forward to this challenge.` Nelligan said.
Nelligan praised Danz as well.
`Ted has been a great leader during a difficult rebuilding period for the Guilderland Republican Party. I want to sincerely thank him for his hard work and support and I look forward to his election to Congress this November.` Nelligan said.
