Saratoga Springs City Police made three more arrests in the recent string of robberies in the downtown area, according to police reports.
Police have been investigating several muggings in the downtown area since May 2. None of the victims have been seriously injured and no weapons have been displayed, with the exception of one knifepoint robbery on May 29. All of the robberies have occurred within one block of Broadway between Caroline Street and Congress Park.
On June 2 police released the following information regarding the robberies:
On May 2 about 3:45 a.m., a male subject flagged down police officers and reported being jumped by two males on Putnam Street between Caroline Street and Phila Street. The victim received minor cuts and scrapes, torn clothing and had money stolen from him during the incident.
On May 16 at about 4:20 a.m., two males victims flagged down patrol officers and reported being robbed by a group of five males near the intersection of Phila and Putnam Streets. One male victim was not injured while the second victim was chased a short distance, assaulted and had money and a cell phone stolen. The victim suffered minor injuries that did not require medical treatment. Police officers stopped two suspects a few blocks from the crime scene and eventually arrested them for the robbery. Police arrested Dakota Tracey, 24, of Zephyr Lane in Saratoga Springs and Anthony Bowden, 24, of Low Street in Ballston Spa for the May 16 robbery.
On May 29 at about 9:00 p.m., a male victim reported being robbed at knifepoint near Congress Park. Details of the crime are unclear and police continue to investigate the incident to identify possible suspects.
On June 1, a male victim reported being assaulted in Congress Park at about 12:50 a.m. The victim was approached by four suspects who demanded money. When the victim refused, the subjects assaulted the victim causing several lacerations to the victim’s face that required medical treatment later that day. The victim still refused to relinquish any money and the suspects fled the area without taking anything.
Three more arrests were made this week, according to police reports:
Dakota S. Tracey, 24, of Zephyr Lane, Saratoga Springs. In addition to the charges pending against Tracey related to the May 16 robbery, police arrested Tracey on June 17 at 9:47 a.m. and charged him with robbery in the second degree in connection with the May 2 robbery.
James H. Deloatch, 21, of Van Dorn Street in Saratoga Springs was arrested on Monday, June 14, at 4:30 p.m. and charged with robbery in the second degree in connection with the May 16 robbery.
Christopher E. Hansen, 22, of Route 50 in Gansevoort was arrested on Wednesday, June 16, at about 3:30 p.m. and charged with assault in the second degree and attempted robbery in the second degree, related to the June 1 incident. He also was charged with robbery in the second degree and intimidating a witness in the second degree related to the May 16 robbery.
Police say investigations into these crimes are continuing.
