Colonie’s Kyle Plante claimed the public school division title in the girls 400-meter intermediate hurdles at last weekend’s New York State High School Track and Field Championships in Binghamton.
Plante won last Friday’s Division I (large school) race with a time of 59.76 seconds. Shen then placed third in the Federation race last Saturday with a time of 59.94 seconds.
Shaker’s Jaquell Chandler also had success in the 400 hurdles. Chandler placed second in the boys Division I event last Friday with a time of 54.85 seconds, and he finished fourth in last Saturday’s Federation race with a time of 55.35 seconds.
Loudonville native Catherine Maloy, an Academy of Holy Names student, was second among Division II (small school) runners in the girls Federation 1,500 with a time of 4:37.64. Maloy finished 13th in the Federation standings.
The Shaker boys 3,200 relay team of Ryan Egan, Chris Herman, Matt Conti and Christian Delago con-tributed a fourth-place finish with a time of 7:46.85, and Colonie’s Tehresa Coles placed fourth in the girls Division I discus throw with a toss of 123 feet, 9 inches. Coles was eighth in the Federation discus throw with a distance of 115 feet, 2 inches.
