The manager of a Stewart’s Store on Route 50 in Malta reported a larceny of gas on Sunday, May 30, according to police reports. The manager reported to state troopers that a white male driving a white Honda Accord with the liccense plate number partially taped over, had stolen gas.
After a thorough investigation, James E. Thornton, 41, of Malta, was identified as a suspect. Thornton was located by troopers in the Home Depot parking lot in Wilton and he was arrested for petit larceny of the gas.
Thornton was arrested for another petit larceny that occurred at Walmart in Wilton on Monday, June 7, where Thornton allegedly stole about $632 worth of merchandise. It was also discovered at this time that there were outstanding warrants for him from Saratoga Springs and Colonie police departments.
Thornton was arraigned in Wilton Town Court and remanded to Saratoga County Jail in lieu of $2,000 bail.
