The Bethlehem Central High School’s Masterminds team recently won the regional championship, defeating 30 other schools over the course of the season for the right to move on to state competition.
Bethlehem beat Troy, Broadalbin Perth, Saratoga, Watervliet and Guilderland in the playoffs to cap an undefeated season. The final playoff game was on May 19.
The competition features teams facing off and buzzing in to answer general knowledge questions. Bethlehem has won the Capital region championship five out of the last seven years and won the state title in 2006. The state competition is June 12 in Syracuse.
Stars of the team are MVP Connor Duffy and Austin Mayron, Peixuan Guo, Kartik Ramkur.`
