After suffering its first loss of the season to Connecticut power Darien last Friday, the Niskayuna boys lacrosse team got back to the business of owning the Suburban Council.
The Silver Warriors (2-0 league, 2-1 overall) jumped out to an 8-2 halftime lead and cruised to a 16-5 victory over Saratoga Springs in their first Suburban Council North Division game of the season Monday.
Junior midfielder Brian Schlansker scored three goals and assisted on three more to lead Niskayuna’s offense. Senior attacker Mark Panneton also had a hat trick, while Colin Foster, Bobby Horan, Matt Sexton and Guy Waltman all tallied twice.
The Silver Warriors began the season last Wednesday with a 10-2 victory over Shaker in Latham. The game was close until the third quarter when Niskayuna outscored Shaker 4-0 to take an 8-1 lead.
Foster and Panneton each scored three goals for the Silver Warriors, who out-shot the Blue Bison 24-9. Jimmy O’Brien had both of Shaker’s goals.
Niskayuna’s offense never got going against Darien last Friday at Union College, though. Panneton tallied in the first quarter, but the Silver Warriors didn’t register another goal until Panneton struck in the fourth quarter.
