D. Joseph Corr will replace outgoing superintendent Randy Ehrenberg effective Aug. 1, according to information from the North Colonie School Board of Education.
Ehrenberg’s retirement begins July 31, and she has been at the helm for nine years, according to information from the district.
Corr is the assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction.
Mrs. Ehrenberg’s tenure as superintendent set the standard for the Board as we discussed the knowledge, skills and experience we would be looking for in the search for her successor. Since North Colonie is one of the highest performing districts in the state, we believed it imperative that the person chosen to lead the District have extensive curriculum, assessment and instructional experience to maintain the successful academic achievements of the District, according to a statement from the board.
The board of education looked for communication, fiscal and labor relations skills along with support of technology and experience in administration. Corr fits the bill, according to the statement.
`Mr. Corr has all of these skills, as well as the experience, intellect, compassion and vision to successfully address the instructional and fiscal challenges that come with these uncertain times,` the statement reads.
Staff and community members are invited to a forum to meet Corr on either Thursday, Feb. 11 at 7:00 p.m. or Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 7:00 p.m. both at the Shaker High School Media Center.
