Those willing to help needy families this holiday season will have an opportunity to do so in downtown Albany on Thursday, Dec. 3.
Savannah’s in downtown Albany will host a fundraiser for the Albany County Adopt-a-Family program on Thursday, Dec. 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. A suggested donation of $5 or a new unwrapped toy will be collected at the door, according to information from Albany County. `The Adopt-A-Family program connects individuals, groups or organizations to a family in need during the holiday season. Donors are provided details about the family including the ages and interests of the children and appropriate gifts according to the needs of the family. Many families need basic items, such as blankets, winter coats and sheets.`
`Each year the Albany County Adopt-A-Family program gives hundreds of families, who can’t afford presents for their children, basic household items and food, a happy holiday season,` said County Executive Mike Breslin in a statement. `This year we hope to help even more families, but in order to achieve our goals, we need the help of the community.`
If you wish to donate contact Sherri Chromik in the Department for Children, Youth and Families at 518-447-5659 or by email at [email protected]. Donor forms are also available at www.albanycounty.com, according to information from the county.
