Shenendehowa fended off a challenge by Niskayuna to pull out a 95-91 dual meet victory Tuesday in a showdown of undefeated girls swim teams.
The Plainsmen built a 10-point lead after the 500-yard freestyle, but Niskayuna won three of the final four events to make it close.
Olivia Samson, Christine Renzi, Lisa Liu and Kelsey Barbour all won individual events for Shen. Samson took first place in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:56.96, Liu won the 500 freestyle in a time of 5:22.94 and Barbour finished first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:08.62. Renzi won the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 204.75 points.
Laura Manor led the way for Niskayuna with victories in the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly. Kim Zhou added wins in the 50 and 100 freestyle.`
