The Philadelphia Orchestra will be kicking off its Saratoga Performing Arts Center residency tonight, with a performance of Aaron Copland’s Lincoln Portrait.

The orchestra will perform at SPAC for three weeks, during which time a number of renowned soloists will sit with the group, including Yo-Yo Ma, Joshua Bell, Andre Watts, Marvin Hamlisch, Yefim Bronfman, Jeff Tyzik, Gil Shaham and Emanuel Ax. The season, which wraps up on Aug. 22, will be led by Principal Conductor and Artistic Director Charles Dutoit.
There will be three pops evenings, scheduled for Friday, Aug. 7 and 14, and Thursday, Aug. 20. They will feature popular movie music, Broadway tunes and great American composers, respectively.
Friday, Aug. 21’s `Tchaikovsky Spectacular` is to feature fireworks and live cannons.
