Board Directors from both Christian Brothers Academy, in Loudonville, and La Salle Institute, in Troy, will meet tonight (Wednesday, Aug. 5) to discuss ways to bring the two schools separated by a river together in a merger.
Tonight’s town hall-style meeting will be the first of many CBA Principal James Schlegal said, in which the board directors will answer parents’ questions and provide information about services the schools can combine to cut costs.
Last year, when rumors began circulating of the merger between the schools, school officials denied the possibility of an actual merger and said that the schools were simply looking at services, such as lawn care, that the two schools could share to save money. Wednesday morning, Schlegel said that while a merger is still far from reality and no decision has been made, the boards from both schools are in discussions about it now.
Before a merger happens, the schools would have to do many things Schlegel said, including surveying parents to see what they think.
At tonight’s meeting, the board directors will present the results of internal audits completed on both schools’ operations, as well as presentations by both board directors.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the gymnasium of CBA at 12 Airline Drive.
