A Ballston Spa Middle School student took first place in the 31st Annual Regional Spelling Bee organized by the Resource Center for Gifted Education at the Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex BOCES on Tuesday, June 2.
Seventh grader Lydia Freehafer received an inscribed plaque displayed at her school. She won the bee by correctly spelling vernacular.
31 students from grade four to eight from 20 school districts took part in the competition, which was held at Lake Avenue Elementary School in Saratoga Springs.“
