The Town of Colonie has issued a notice asking residents to limit water usage on Tuesday, March 31 and Wednesday, April 1 as the Latham Water District will be shutting down the Mohawk View High Life Pump Station in order to install a new valve and replace an existing valve.
These improvements are being made as part of the Latham Tank Relocation Project, in the Latham Water District.
The town is asking that residents reduce their water usage in an effort to conserve and protect the water supply so that the pump station can maintain sufficient pressure while the pumping capacity is reduced on those dates.
Residents can reduce water usage by avoiding washing of clothes, and outdoor water usage, such as washing cars, watering lawns and washing driveways. Town officials also wish to advice residents that during these two dates, they may notice a discoloration in their water due to changes in water flow pattern.
If water consumption is not reduced on the two dates, the Latham Water District has warned that it may have to institute a precautionary system wide boil water notification, and residents should check www.colonie.org/lathamwater for updates and for more ideas on how to conserve water on those days.
Should any residents have questions, they can contact the Latham Water District 24 hours a day at 783-2750.
