According to Assistant Director of Communications for Siena College Allison Maloney, U.S. Rep. Paul Tonko’s office announced today (Tuesday, March 3)that $250,000 in grant money for Siena’s mentoring program has been approved by the House of Representatives.
The money was approved as part of the House FY09 Omnibus Appropriations Act, and will be be used to help match Siena students with underprivileged students in the local area, having the Siena students mentor the underprivileged students.
The mentoring program was founded in 1965 by Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
The bill is now being sent to the U.S. Senate for consideration.
