In the final week before the Town of Colonie holds a public hearing to discuss the termination of the Colonie EMS LifeGuard Air Rescue Program, EMS respondents are knocking on the doors of Town residents and business owners, asking them to sign a petition in favor of the program.
The petition, which reads, We the undersigned strongly request the Colonie Town Board continue the Colonie Emergency Medical Service LifeGuard Air Rescue Program. This program has served the community for 15 years, generates significant revenue for Colonie, and has brought state of the art medical care to Town residents, has already been signed by over 1,000 people, according to UPSEU Labor Relations Representative Gary Favro.
Favro expects more signatures to be added to the petitions in days to come. The petitions, which are also being signed online at www.cemsba.org, are being shown to residents and business owners by EMS respondents during their off-time, Favro said.
Petitions will be delivered to Town Board members at Thursday (August 14) night’s Town Board Meeting, which begins at 7:05 p.m. at Memorial Town Hall.
