Police raided the Latham hub of what appears to be an elaborate cocaine and crack syndicate Friday, Jan. 5, arresting 10 suspects and apprehending a kilogram of cocaine.
The rental home at 6 Utica Ave., off of Troy Schenectady Road, was the alleged destination of routine shipments of drugs from New York City, slated to be distributed to area dealers.
The arrest of the 10 individuals charged with conspiracy to distribute crack and cocaine was the culmination of a six-month joint investigation between local and federal authorities.
Prosecutors at Albany County District Attorney David Soares’ office are calling the arrests a big hit on an intricate and well-structured drug ring that brought tens of thousands of dollars worth of the drugs into the area monthly.
Arrested were: Juan P. Montalvo, 24, Omar Astacio, 26, Jonathan Gordon, 25, Joan Manuel Gando-Ramirez, 25, Yadira Polanco, 25, Jean C. Gonzalez, 25, Joey Corretjer, Jr., 23, Morris Alvarez, 23, Sean Torres, 26 and Anthony Torres.
Federal charges have been brought against the members of the ring.
