When Deborah Langille’s phone rang in her Clifton Park home at 7:30 a.m. recently, she was worried.
I hoped everyone was OK, Langille said, `because no one usually calls that early.`
Anxiety was quickly replaced by excitement when the caller identified herself as a representative of ABC’s popular `Live With Regis and Kelly` show.
Earlier, Langille had entered a show promotion called `Trivia A Go-Go!,` which gave viewers a chance to win prizes up to $20,000 by successfully answering a trivia question if they were called at home.
The Clifton Park woman was told that Regis or Kelly would call at 9 a.m. to ask her a trivia question because her name had been selected from the many entrants nationwide.
When the ABC representative got off the phone, Langille quickly called her husband, Tom, at work to share the good news.
`When she called me at work, I thought they were scamming us,` Tom Langille said, adding he was initially worried about identity thieves, until his wife told him about registering for the contest.
`I told him it was the one with Regis ` the one you like,` she said.
At 9 a.m., the phone call from the TV show came, and they talked about how Christopher Knight and another TV personality had appeared on the show the previous day.
She correctly answered that Knight had been a star in the hit 1970s show `The Brady Bunch.`
Her answer won her a brand new car.
On Tuesday, the Langille family picked up the new 2006 Hyundai Sonata at Fucillo Hyundai in Schenectady.
General manager Tom Meyers held a ceremonial key hand-off for the lucky winner and her family.
As she drove home, Langille was followed by her husband in the family’s ’98 Plymouth Breeze, which they now plan to sell.
`So, if anyone is looking ,` Langille said with a bright smile. “
