Four arrests and warrants at Target in 12 hours
COLONIE – On Sunday, Sept. 24 Colonie police responded to Target on Central Avenue for a larceny in progress. During the investigation, Javon White, 36, who is homeless, gave the police a fake name and date of birth, reports said. When his real identity was, police found he had an outstanding warrant.
While searching White police located a crack pipe in his pocket.
He was charged with petit larceny, criminal impersonation, and criminal possession of a controlled substance, all misdemeanors. White was given an appearance ticket for those charges and transported to Albany police for the outstanding warrant.
Felony warrant and fake name
COLONIE – Again at Target on Sunday, Sept. 24, Colonie police arrested Santos Vasquez, 25, of Albany for allegedly stealing $342.24 worth of merchandise from the store. He also gave the police a fake name. He was found to have a felony warrant from the City of Albany.
He was charged with petit larceny and criminal impersonation, both misdemeanors. Vasquez was given an appearance ticket for those charges and transported to Albany for the warrant.
Larceny and warrant
Loss prevention officers observed a person stealing merchandise at the Target on Central Avenue on Monday, Sept. 25, and called Colonie police, according to reports.
When officers arrived they took Umut Tanrikulu, 35, who is homeless, into custody. At that point the employees identified Tanrikulu as the suspect in a larceny on September 14.
He was taken into custody and charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor, for each incident. He was released on an appearance ticket, but had an outstanding warrant in Guilderland and was transported there to meet police.
Warrant after larceny complaint
COLONIE – In the fourth trip in 12 hours to Target on Central Avenue for a larceny in progress complaint, Colonie police found that Christopher Mann, 35, who is homeless, was wanted by the Albany County Sheriff’s Office.
He was processed and transported to meet deputies.
Outside warrant
COLONIE – Colonie police stopped a vehicle for traffic violations on Thursday, Sept. 21 near the intersection of Central and Woolard Avenues driven by Loxie Shaw, 20, of Schenectady, and found him wanted.
He was processed and transported to meet Rotterdam police.
2022 grand larceny at Kays and more
ONONDAGA – A 36-year-old Maspeth man was arrested by Colonie police on an outstanding arrest warrant for a 2022 incident at Kays Jewelers at Colonie Center.
Baron Brastas, was transported back to Colonie on Thursday, Sept. 21 and was found to have an outstanding warrant from the Bergen County, New Jersey, Sheriff’s Office.
He was charged with grand larceny, a felony, in the Kays’ case and also charged with being a fugitive from justice.
He was arraigned by Colonie Town Judge David Green and sent to the Albany County jail to await extradition to New Jersey.
Warrant
COLONIE – Arthur Butler, 42, of Cohoes, was taken into custody by Colonie police on Thursday, Sept. 21 after he was a passenger in a car that was stopped on the Northway for traffic violations. He failed to appear in court in March.
Warrant
COLONIE – Guilderland police dropped off Kevin Johnson, 55, of Albany, at the Colonie police station on Friday, Sept. 22 for an outstanding warrant with the town.
He failed to appear in April.
Trespass and warrant
COLONIE – A homeless man who was arrested September 16 at McDonalds for an outstanding warrant in Bethlehem and ate stolen at CVS, was arrested again on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 5:30 a.m. for trespassing and an additional warrant from Schenectady.
According to reports, Ashanti Burch, 43, was seen at the Cumberland Farms on Central Avenue and had signed a trespass affidavit agreeing he would not be there. After checking, Colonie police found he had an outstanding warrant from Schenectady. He was processed and transported to meet Schenectady police.
Warrant
COLONIE – On Saturday, Sept. 23, Colonie police stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Central Avenue and Tanglewood Rd and found the driver wanted.
Petrika Kozeli, 59, of Colonie, was wanted by SUNY Albany police in Guilderland. He was processed and transported to meet them.
Criminal trespass and warrant
COLONIE – Colonie police responded to a man sleeping in a stairwell at the Towers of Colonie on Saturday, Sept. 23 and found that he was wanted. Mame Toure, 24, who is homeless, was trespassed from the property in June and was charged with criminal trespass, a misdemeanor. He also failed to appear in Colonie town court in August. He was arraigned.
Weapon charge
COLONIE – A Colonie man was arrested by the Albany County Sheriff’s Office on Monday, Sept. 25 on an outstanding warrant from the Town of Colonie.
Hyron Celestine, 19, was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, a felony, for a October 2022 incident at his home.
He was sent to the Albany County jail.
Conspiracy
COLONIE – Colonie police arrested Edward Holliday, 49, of Schenectady at the Flights 2 game and Hobby store on Sand Creek Road on Monday, Sept. 25.
He was charged with conspiracy, a felony, for an incident that day.
Holliday was released with an appearance ticket for October 4.
Robbery at Macy’s
COLONIE – On Tuesday, Sept. 26, Colonie responded to Colonie Center for a report of a robbery with a weapon at Macy’s at 6:22 p.m.
Officers arrested Dion Blake, 53, of Albany, and charged him with robbery – forcible theft with an instrument and criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies, and menacing with a weapon and petit larceny, both misdemeanors.
Blake was brought to the Albany County jail as a pre-arraignment detainee and was arraigned the next day.
Warrant at spa
LATHAM – An Albany woman was arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at the Rejuvn8 Spa on Loudon Road on an outstanding warrant from the Town of Colonie.
Colonie police responded to the business for a domestic dispute and found that Janesha Thomas, 19, of Albany, had the warrant for not showing up to Colonie Town Court in January.
She was processed, given an appearance ticket, and released. Thomas is scheduled back in court on October 4.
Two warrants
COLONIE – Another police agency dropped Stephanie Markus, 25, who is homeless off at the Colonie police station on Wednesday, Sept. 27 for outstanding warrants.
She did not appear in court in January. Markus was arraigned by Colonie Judge Andrew Sommers on both warrants.
Theft and warrant
COLONIE – A Schenectady man was taken into custody on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at the Colonie Terrace Apartments during a Colonie police investigation into thefts at the property on September 18.
According to reports, Lyle Larose, 47, was in possession of the stolen property and also had an active bench warrant and signed charges for two previous cases.
Larose was arraigned by Colonie Judge Andrew Sommers.
Burglary at Target
COLONIE – Colonie police arrested a 41-year-old homeless man who was already trespassed from the Target on Central Avenue on Thursday, Sept. 28.
Mathew Simon was charged with burglary, a felony, and petit larceny and falsifying business records, both misdemeanors, and trespass, a violation.
He was arraigned by Judge Andrew Sommers and sent to the Albany County jail.
Grand larceny at the library
LOUDONVILLE – An Allentown, Penn. man was arrested and charged on Thursday, Sept. 28 with four felony charges after an investigation at the Colonie Library.
Eric Dunbar, 28, was charged with grand larceny – credit card, grand larceny, criminal mischief, and identity theft, all felonies.
Dunbar was arraigned by Colonie Judge Andrew Sommers.
