COLONIE — Runners and walkers took over The Crossings on Sunday, Sept. 25, to raise money for the Colonie Youth Center’s scholarship funds.
The 19th annual Crossings 5K Challenge began and ended behind the Ciccotti Center at 30 Aviation Road and the course took the 185 runners through the picturesque Crossings Park on a crisp, fall day. There were two kids runs, one a quarter mile and a timed, one-miler.
In addition to refreshments, a Kids Zone, an awards ceremony and medals for all children, CDPHP hosted a post-race “Just for the Health of It” assembly that featured a number of informational booths on how to live a healthier lifestyle.
The race is CYC’s largest fundraiser and provides money for its Scholarship Fund and the Sammy Nathan Scholarship Fund. The programs offer reduced childcare and health and wellness programming rates to income-eligible families.
