COLONIE – Three North Carolina men were arrested on Monday, Aug. 20, for trying to rob a marijuana dealer.

According to Lt. Robert Winn, at shortly before 10 a.m., a Mechanicville man went to the Best Western Albany Airport Inn at 200 Wolf Road to sell pot.
Once there, he was jumped by three men and they got into a fight. Employees at the hotel called police and responding officers found a 20-year-old man with a head and leg injury. He had been robbed of his wallet, $800 and about a half ounce of pot.
The suspects were detained in their rooms without incident, positively identified by the victim and a warrant uncovered the wallet, cash and a handgun.

The handgun, a Canik TP 9mm, was loaded with 18 rounds but was not used in the robbery. It was found hidden in an HVAC unit in the room.
The victim was treated by Colonie EMS and does not face charges at this time, but may at a later date.
Jamaro T. Rawlings, 26, of Smithfield; Samuel Jones, 22, of Richfield; and Malik Joyner, 24, of Dubley, all face felony charges of robbery, assault and grand larceny. Jones and Joyner are also charged with two felonies of criminal possession of a weapon.
They were arraigned in Colonie Town Court and remanded to the Albany County jail.
