DELMAR– Local EMT Charles Keefe was presented with the New York State Volunteer Ambulance and Rescue Association’s 2023 BLS Provider of Excellence Award.
Charlie joined Delmar-Bethlehem EMS in 2013 as an EMT and Crew Chief. Charlie was previously an EMT with the Ravena Rescue Squad and a firefighter with the Coeyman’s Hollow VFD. Charlie served our nation as a member of the United States Navy.
Charlie dedicates more than 1,000 hours each year to being on call for the ambulance squad. In addition to riding his regularly scheduled hours, Charlie is the first one to volunteer to fill a gap for someone who goes home sick or has a personal emergency. Charlie is a Field Training Officer and mentors new EMTs studying to become a Crew Chief. He sets a huge example for the entire ambulance squad in his meticulous preparation for each shift and the precision with which he responds. Charlie is the kind of EMT you want at your front door when you are ill or injured. Charlie is an important member of the team that keeps Delmar-Bethlehem successful.
