If you build it …
Take your building skills beyond Legos at our Kids Build Anything program where we’ll break out all of the library’s cool construction toys. Kids ages 4-11 and families can let their imaginations run wild as they create fantastic structures using our Legos, Snap Circuits, 3D puzzles, blocks, Lincoln Logs and more. No registration is required. Stop by Friday, Aug. 18, from 2-3:30 p.m. and see what all the fun’s about.
Fact versus fiction
Mary Miller, Education Services Director for the NY Newspapers Foundation and NY News Publishers Association, will discuss the importance of media literacy and critical thinking skills in the digital age. At her “Seeking Truth in a Fake News World” presentation on Tuesday, Aug. 22, at 7 p.m., she will also provide tips to avoid falling victim to misinformation. By the end, attendees will have a deeper understanding of the importance of reliable local news sources, the challenges posed by fake news, and the realities of AI technology used to both create and identify disinformation.
Registration is required. Visit bethlehem.librarycalendar.com to sign up.
Shadowhunter author
in the spotlight
Save the date because you’re invited to an enchanting hour online Wednesday, Aug. 23, at 8 p.m. as we chat with mega-bestselling author Cassandra Clare about her newest and final book in The Last Hours series, “Chain of Thorns.”
In the third installment in the Chain of Thorns series, Cordelia has lost everything that matters to her. If Cordelia and her friends are going to save their city — and their families — they will have to muster their courage, swallow their pride, and trust one another again.
Clare spent time in Los Angeles and New York, where she worked at various entertainment magazines. Her first book, “The City of Bones,” became an instant bestseller. Additional series set in the Shadowhunter universe have seen similar success, including The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices and The Last Hours.
