BETHLEHEM—To reduce congestion, and to improve both vehicle and pedestrian safety at the intersection of Route 9W and Feura Bush/Glenmont Road in Glenmont, the Town of Bethlehem is moving forward with a plan to build a roundabout at the intersection and to extend sidewalks along Rte 9W and Glenmont Road.
To kick off the project, the town will hold an open house and public workshop on Tuesday, June 26, at the Glenmont Elementary School at 328 Route 9W in Glenmont. The open house will run from 4 to 6:30 p.m., and the workshop will begin with a formal presentation at 6:30 p.m. and then be open for questions and comments. This is the first of three planned public forums over the next 18 months.
The open house and workshop will give residents an opportunity to learn more about the project and share insights and concerns with Town staff and engineers from Creighton Manning Engineering.
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2020.
Approximately $3.9 million in grant funding from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the New York State Department of Transportation will cover 80 percent of project costs.
