DELMAR – Deputies from the Sheriff’s Department pulled over a vehicle on Route 32 between Elsmere and Murray avenues on Tuesday, Dec. 12, and arrested one person on weapon charges and another on a drug charge.
According to Sheriff Craig Apple, when deputies pulled over a white Lexus on Route 32, they noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The passenger in the car, 19-year-old Alexander S. Carp, of Delmar, was also found to be in possession of a loaded, defaced 9mm Smith and Wesson handgun.
The driver, 20-year-old Desmen Ferrell, allegedly had marijuana in his possession.

Bethlehem Police Commander Adam Hornick said deputies who made the initial stop requested assistance with a “priority response” and all available cars from Bethlehem Police Department and the State Police were at the scene at shortly after 3 p.m.
Carp was charged with two felonies of criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned in Bethlehem Town Court and remanded to the Albany County jail.
Ferrell was issued an appearance ticket.
