Bethlehem Central School District seeking input on district priorities

BETHLEHEM — Beginning today, Wednesday, Dec. 6, the Bethlehem Central School District is inviting community members, parents, staff and students to fill out a survey that will help guide the district Strategic Planning Committee as it examines Bethlehem’s mission and vision and identifies goals and strategies for district decision-making into the next decade.

The committee, which includes administrators, faculty and staff, parents, and representatives from the Board of Education, began its work in September and is expected to complete a five-year strategic plan for the district in early 2019. The group hosted a Community Forum in October, and questions for the community survey were developed by the committee using feedback from the forum.

The 11-question survey – available as an online survey or in paper format — is open to all residents of the school district. The district will collect community survey responses through Friday, Dec. 22, and a similar survey is being shared with faculty and staff. Students in grades 6-12 will be given an opportunity to complete the survey in school prior to the holiday break.

According to District Superintendent Jody Monroe, the BCSD Strategic Planning Survey is an important step in the strategic planning process..

“There was great discussion and a good turnout at our Community Forum in October from a wide cross-section of our stakeholders” said Monroe. “Our goal is to reach even more district residents with this quick, anonymous survey that can be completed conveniently at home.”

Monroe said survey results will be reviewed by the committee in January and will be released publicly in February.
