DELMAR — Multiple residents have reported sightings of a wayward brown bear throughout town, one of which captured a video and posted it onto social media.
Bethlehem Police confirmed a bear has been sighted in multiple locations, ranging from Delmar, Elsmere and Glenmont. The case has been turned over to the State Department of Environmental Conservation.
Bethlehem Police said the bear appears to be young, weighing approximately 120 to 150 pounds. He has likely wandered into the more developed section of town in search for food.
Though officials did not go as far as to label the bear as a threat, they advise residents to bring all bird feeders inside, and to store garbage retainers in garages, where possible.
