After losing to Shaker two days earlier, the Bethlehem boys soccer team held on for a 2-1 Suburban Council victory over Shenendehowa Thursday, Sept. 10, in Delmar.
Eamon Conway played a part in both of Bethlehem’s goals. He lofted a free kick to Ben Licht, who headed the ball past Shen goaltender Jerry Lewandowski for a 1-0 lead eight minutes into the game. Then in the 22nd minute, Conway received a pass from Kevin Piccolino in front of the Shen goal and put the ball in the net to give the Eagles (3-1-0) a 2-0 advantage.
Shen’s Brendan Carl struck in the waning seconds of the first half to cut Bethlehem’s lead in half, but the Eagles held on to get back into the win column.
Goaltenders Nate Brands and Liam Dole combined to stop 12 shots for Bethlehem. Lewandowski made three saves for Shen.
