ALBANY January is the most popular month of the year for setting fitness and health goals.
“This time of year is huge for us,” said Scott McGregor, operations manager at Best Fitness in Albany’s Westgate Plaza.
However, as soon as those challenges are made, they are abandoned. Life resumes with little exercise and less than desirable eating habits.
Fitness trainers love to see people make a commitment to better health. However, they really want to see people maintain their goals and change their lifestyles by adopting positive habits and making healthy choices.
“We want to encourage people to set reasonable goals they can stand behind,” said fitness director Craig Boyarsky. “When we work with anyone, we don’t generally suggest reaching for the stars in the first month. We instead tell them to take things incrementally, one step at a time. We want them to succeed not just for the short-term but for their entire lives.”
