COHOES — By day, he’s a teacher at Schenectady High School, but in terms of the local music scene, you’ll find Josh Casano mastering his loops and acoustic guitar on stage.
The affable performer puts on a show with his guitar strapped around his shoulder, and an array of looping equipment at his feet. It’s a one-man show that’s been put to the test, including a recent jaunt at providing the musical score for movie-watchers in Glens Falls.
This Friday, Jan. 3, Casano starts a residency at Table 41 in Cohoes. From January to June, he will spend at least two nights each month performing on the Table 41 stage.
Casano is a classically trained singer-songwriter out of The College of Saint Rose’s prestigious music program. He focused his studies on classical, Spanish and Flamenco guitar. By using his loop station, he has the ability to sound like a full band. Casano often mixes in his original works with covers of audience favorites. His music has often been featured on WEQX 102.7, EXIT 97.7 and Mix 106.1.
Table 41 Brewing Company is a small farm brewery in Cohoes, offering a variety of specialty beers and five staple beers.
Casano performs on Friday, Jan. 3, at 6 p.m.
