NEW SCOTLAND – Bye, Bye Blackbirds.
Voorheesville Central graduated its class of high school seniors in a ceremony held in Clayton A. Bouton High School on Friday, June 28.
Voorheesville students are accustom to spending their school days within the shadow of the Helderbergs. The escarpment, the ancient shoreline of a prehistoric lake, looms over the school campus. Where several of the region’s school districts have opted to host graduation ceremonies away from town, Voorheesville likes to keep it home.
In a town named in homage to Celtic roots, it has become tradition to Voorheesville graduates to be led in a procession paced by the Capital Region Celtic Pipe Band. Bagpipes, snare and bass drums announce to a gathering of family and friends that their Class of 2019 is passing a threshold.
