TROY — The Downtown Troy Business Improvement District is excited to announce Rubblebucket as the eighth performer for the annual Rockin’ on the River concert series in Riverfront Park. The series begins on Wednesday, June 6th and runs through August 8th with 9 weeks of free family-friendly live music, along the sunset views of the Hudson River. Rubblebucket will perform on Aug. 1, 2018, on a summer roster of talented musicians, both local and national, emerging and seasoned- all excited to give Troy concertgoers a great time! We welcome music fans to shop, dine and explore downtown Troy before and after the concerts. The concerts will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Riverfront Park, located between historic downtown Troy and the scenic Hudson River.
Arm-crossing be damned! Rubblebucket’s band leader and trumpeter, Alex Toth met singer and saxophonist Kalmia Traver in a Latin jazz band when they were students in Burlington, VT. After graduation they went on to join a reggae group, met percussionist Craig Myers in 2007, and the boundary-crossing mysterious fun sounds of Rubblebucket soon was born. Their music can be categorized as psychedelic indie rock with upbeat dance tunes, but trying to categorize this band is useless; you have to experience them for yourself. Rolling Stone, reporting from Bonnaroo stated: “Rubblebucket revved up like an indie-rock Miami Sound Machine, dancers, horns and all.” The Rubblebucket condition has spread around the country, melting cares in its way. It has warmed up cold northern cities like Toronto and Chicago, barging in like an escaped rhino and triggering everyone, everywhere, to let loose and feel. Rubblebucket has performed at Radio City Music Hall, The Brooklyn Academy of Music, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and NPR Tiny Desk Series.
