ALBANY — More than 100 days since Hurricane Maria devastated the island of Puerto Rico, at least half of the population remains without electricity.
HDH Entertainment and Centro Civico, Inc. have jointly organized a Benefit Concert in Page Hall at the State University at Albany’s Downtown Campus, on Saturday, Jan. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The concert will feature performances by Derrick Horton and The Jay Street Band and The Mambo Dragons.
All of the net ticket proceeds will go to the Centro Civico/Puerto Rico Disaster Relief of the Capital Region in an effort to provide humanitarian aid to survivors of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.
The Puerto Rico Disaster Relief Team of the Capital Region (PRDRCTR) has formed an action plan to provide several major efforts to continue to serve the post-Hurricane Maria residents of Puerto Rico. Through this collaborative work, donations and collections of goods are centralized through Centro Civico, and other fund raising projects have emerged. The principal members of the PRDRTCR involved in the development of the Benefit Concert are the Albany Latin Festival Association and the Capital District 100 Hispanic Women.
Advance purchase tickets cost $15 for students and $20 for the general public (day of event tickets cost $20 for students and $25 for the general public). Advance purchase tickets can be purchased on-line at www.hdhentertainment.org or by calling Dina Arroyo of Centro Civico at (518)-842-3762, ext. 222.
