The Grammy Award winning Albany Symphony Orchestra is to announce the details of the upcoming 2015-2016 season, among which is to include a major celebrity soloist.
Details of the guest performer’s appearance is to be announced today, Wednesday, Feb. 18.
Music Direct David Alan Miller is to be joined by Albany Mayour Kathy Sheehan, Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy and State Assemblyman John McDonald.
There will also be details revealed about a new group being created to better engage rising leaders in the region.
The press release, shared late last week, continuously made reference to the orchestra’s plan to provide a “world-class” experience.
The orchestra won a Grammy last year, on their first nomination in their 84-year history, for best classical instrumental solo for its recording of composer John Corigliano’s “Conjurer Concerto For Percussionist & String Orchestra.” The award winning piece was also recorded in the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall.
